Officers from the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau raided three golf stores in the Shanghai Longhua Apparel Market last month, netting 630 counterfeit golf clubs and 1,540 counterfeit golf balls in addition to many counterfeit accessories. Two shop owners were arrested. After the raids, officers went through the records of Taoboa.com, a web site where the retail stores also sold counterfeit golf products. In the last year, they made about $30,000 in sales of fake products. The raids were conducted at the behest of the U.S. Golf Manufacturers Anti-Counterfeiting Working Group, which includes Acushnet Company, Callaway Golf, Cleveland Golf/Srixon, Nike Golf, Ping and TaylorMade. Products labeled with all of the brands were part of the raid.
