On April 1, XXL Sports & Outdoor opened a new, 4,000-square-meter flagship store in the Gerngross department store in downtown Vienna, the fifth branch of the Norwegian chain in Austria. In addition to the new Vienna store, XXL Sports is already represented in Vösendorf, the Donau-Zentrum in Vienna, Linz, and Seiersberg. The chain store tries to set itself apart from the competition by offering low prices for well-known sports brands and a limited number of proprietary brands. XXL Sports & Outdoor, headquartered in Oslo, operates more than 80 stores, the majority of which are located in Norway, Sweden and Finland. XXL Sports & Outdoor has been active in Austria since 2017 with retail stores and an Austria-specific online shop.
