On Earth Day, April 22, Burton announced its extended support of Protect Our Winters (POW). The POW organization is a foundation devoted to increasing awareness of the impact of climate change on the environment where the winter sports community is active. The boardsports company and POW are determined to unite the snowboard community around actions against global warming. Some of Burton's athletes, such as Nicolas Muller, Danny Davis and John Jackson, are already members of the POW Riders Alliance. Recently, a couple of Burton-sponsored riders signed a climate change petition urging the U.S. President Barack Obama to take action on climate change and clean energy.
