On Oct. 1, Jan-Thomas Metge will fill the new position of managing director of the newly created Intersport Multichannel GmbH (IMG), a recently founded subsidiary of Intersport Germany that is designed – as reported before – to develop strategies for online retailing and other distribution channels. The 42-year-old has already been involved in Intersport's new venture as the director of a business unit of Stuttgart-based Digital Media Center, an IT-focused consultant and development firm that was assigned to develop the buying group's internet offer. Before, Metge had done so for Galeria Kaufhof, the German department store chain.
