On the occasion of Nike's Air Max Day campaign, the brand has brought in a series of artists asking them to reinterpret the shoe. The “Vision-Airs” collection has brought in Riccardo Tisci, Marc Newson, and Arthur Huang to re-design the sneaker. Tisci designed a synthetic leather and suede black shoe as an update of the Nike Air Max 97. Newson designed a tan and teal sneaker with full-grain leather chassis and velcro strapping. Arthur Huang created what Nike has described as one of the lightest Air Max 1 ever built, along with a lightweight package made entirely of post-consumer materials. Meanwhile, five students from three of the top design schools in the world - including Parsons, Central Saint Martins and The Domus Academy - were asked to create garments that fit the concept of “walking on air.” Besides these collaborations, the celebration for the 30th anniversary of the Air Max have also included art installations, pop-ups and concerts around the world, as well as the release of limited-edition versions of the sneaker.
