One Sport, a retailer in the free Italian city-state of San Marino, has opened a 1,400-square-meter sportswear store under the name of Swer, after an investment of €5 million. Run by an Italian industry veteran, Gaetano Memmola, the project is based on a new concept that may be replicated elsewhere in Italy. It offers lifestyle clothing and footwear by major sports brands such as Adidas, Nike, Lacoste, Puma and Reebok together with sports-inspired clothing by fashion brands such as Barbour, Paul Smith and Tommy Hilfiger. It also carries some special make-ups by Superga. The Swer store also has a café and restaurant, a library and an art gallery. The name Swer is that of a private label of high-end sports clothing that was going to be developed by One Sport in association with other Italian sporting goods retailers, but this project is on ice for the moment because of a lack of sufficient commitment by the retailers themselves.
