One year and five days before the start of the Beijing Olympic Games, Nike has opened a 13,000-square-foot flagship store in the capital in the presence of Charlies Denson, president of the Nike brand, and of Liu Xiang, the first Chinese track & field athlete to have won a gold medal. It is the largest of 3,000 Nike stores currently trading in China. Adidas expects to replicate by opening a much bigger store, its largest one in the world, in Beijing before the Olympics start. It should be almost double the size of its flagship on Paris’ Champs-Elysées, which measures 1,750 square meters.
