OnTheSnow, the U.S. online and mobile platform owned by Mountain News Corp., has acquired Skiinfo, a European website created in Oslo in 1996. With an audience of 11 million unique visitors in 2011, Skiinfo has become the biggest provider of information on snow conditions in Europe. It has offices in Germany, France, Italy and Slovakia. The acquisition will allow OnTheSnow to enlarge its reach to 20 countries serviced in 14 different languages. Together, the two services will have a combined audience of 23 million unique visitors per year and will supply weather forecasts to more than 1,500 internet sites and other media around the world. Mountain News Corp. belongs to Vail Resorts, a company quoted on the New York Stock Exchange.
