Orvis, a Vermont-based mail order and e-commerce company, has promoted Ray McCready to president from his prior role as vice president of merchandising and retail. Elsewhere in the company, Brian Gown, the chief financial officer, will now also be chief operating officer. The Perkins family, which bought Orvis in 1965, remains in control of the company with Paul Perkins as chief executive and Dave Perkins as vice chairman.
