Oxylane has opened four new Décathlon stores in Spain, taking the total door count in the country up to 75 units, besides three Koodza stores and three Decat’ stores. Of those, 17 are in the metropolitan area of Barcelona and 11 in the area of Madrid. The French group, which aims to get between 1 and 2 percent of all its sales from golf, is also opening a pilot store of 300 square meters in Madrid that focuses exclusively on golf and pádel, a very popular Spanish version of tennis that we have discussed in detail in our Iberian market research report. The store, which features a golf simulator, is located at the intersection of Paseo de la Castellana and Joaquín Costa, in the financial center of the capital. Half of the space is taken up by Décathlon’s private labels for racquet sports and golf products, Artengo and Inesis, and the other half by other brands.
