The Professional Padel Association (PPA) has taken issue with the manner in which the International Padel Federation (FIP) is handling its tournaments. In a press release on its website, the PPA alleges “irregularities” in player draws and in the allotment of points and prize money. For instance, in the recent Platinum competition in Mexico City, says the PPA, the draw did not match what was advertised, and the prizes did not match Article 2.13.7 of the FIP’s own technical norms. The problem, the PPA continues, is “structural” and results in “manifest errors” in player rankings. Moreover, there have been unannounced FIP Tour cancelations, delinquent payments and delays in prize funding by certain promotors of the tour. The FIP appears for now to have made no official response.
