Patagonia is taking the European distribution of its footwear range in its own hands to optimize its sales in specialist outdoor stores. The brand’s footwear business has been handled by Wolverine World Wide, but with meager results outside the U.S., and Patagonia Europe indicated that it wanted to deploy more focused resources behind its footwear range, getting its retail clients to display its apparel and footwear ranges in a more harmonized way. Company officials deny a report that Patagonia Europe is going to move from the French Alps to the Basque Coast, in spite of its recent launch of Pat(agonia wetsuits. Patagonia’s global sales increased to nearly $340 million in the year ended last April (more in The Outdoor Industry Compass).
