Indian textile and apparel giant Arvind has appointed Sunitha Lal as Chief Human Resources Officer. The move comes as Arvind scales its diversified portfolio of textiles, composites and lifestyle brands, integrating advanced manufacturing and sustainability.

Lal joins from Ather Energy, where she served as CHRO, and brings over three decades of experience in talent strategy, organisational design and culture transformation in the manufacturing and technology sectors. Her appointment comes as Arvind seeks to strengthen its diversified business portfolio and integrate advanced manufacturing and sustainability initiatives.

Why it matters

Arvind is a key Indian player on both the manufacturing and the retail sides of sportswear and equipment.

Through Arvind Composites, the company produces carbon- and glass-fiber sports equipment, such as badminton and tennis racquets and hockey sticks, using state-of-the-art robotic and CNC processes. Its Arvind Lifestyle Brands division manages international labels, including sportswear and athleisure brands like Nautica, and operates a strong retail network across India.

With its expertise in high-performance fabrics and sustainable textile innovation, Arvind connects raw-materials production with finished sporting goods – a rare vertical integration in the region.

Bottom line

Lal’s HR leadership arrives at a pivotal time for Arvind, which aims to attract top talent and align culture with its next growth phase – one that is knitting textiles, technology and sport together.
