52-year-old Martin Shankland, Executive Board member for Global Operations, has informed Adidas AG’s Supervisory Board of his intention to step down from the Executive Board and leave the company after 27 years with the brand. The Supervisory Board has agreed to terminate Martin Shankland’s appointment as an Executive Board member, effective August 10, 2024.

Thomas Rabe, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Adidas AG, expressed gratitude to Martin Shankland for his significant contributions during his tenure with the company. He stated, “On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to congratulate Martin on his career at our company and thank him for his passion, commitment, and leadership throughout the past 27 years. We wish him the utmost success in his future endeavors.”

In 1997, Martin joined Adidas Russia/CIS. During his tenure as Managing Director, he positioned Adidas Russia/CIS as the market leader through the establishment of a robust direct-to-consumer business. After spearheading the Adidas Emerging Markets region from 2017 onward, Martin joined the Executive Board in 2019, assuming responsibility for product operations, sourcing and supply chain management, as well as technology, data and analytics, non-trade procurement, and sustainability.

Hoa Ly, Senior Vice President of Sourcing, will oversee all sourcing operations at Adidas and report directly to Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden. Effective August 11, 2024, Adidas will have a new Executive Board, consisting of Bjørn Gulden (Chief Executive Officer, Global Brands), Arthur Hoeld (Global Sales), Harm Ohlmeyer (Chief Financial Officer), and Michelle Robertson (Global Human Resources, People and Culture). Additionally, Adidas CFO Harm Ohlmeyer will assume responsibility for the supply chain and tech.
