The Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Los Angeles 2028 has announced the appointment of US Army veteran Reynold Hoover as Chief Executive Officer. He will direct the Committee’s day-to-day work and report to Casey Wasserman, the LA28 Chairperson and President. Hoover will begin at LA28 on June 10.

Hoover held leadership positions in the US military, as well as senior roles in the federal government and the private sector. Most recently, he served as Deputy Commander of the US Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs from 2016 until 2018. Upon his retirement in 2018, he was awarded the Defense Distinguished Service Medal. Among his military assignments, he oversaw logistics as Commander, Joint Sustainment Command Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom from 2009 until 2010. He also provided military explosive ordnance disposal support at the Winter Games in Salt Lake City in 2022.

Among his civilian assignments, he served senior roles in the federal government, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as Chief of Staff from 2002 to 2003, then as Director of the Office of National Security Coordination until 2005. He served as Special Assistant for Homeland Security to President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2007. He also worked as Deputy Director at the Office of Public Affairs and Logistics Support Officer at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 2011 until 2016. 

In the private sector, he held positions at CSX Intermodal and CSX Transportation. He is also a member of the Florida and District of Columbia Bar and the Council on Foreign Relations.

Since his retirement from the military, he has served as Senior Mentor at the US Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and as a Senior Fellow at the McCrary Institute at Auburn University. He was also a member of the National Infrastructure Advisory Council.

Hoover was brought to LA28 by way of the global executive search firm Korn Ferry.
