Slovenian ski manufacturer Elan has named Žiga Schmidt interim director of its Sports Division after the departure of Leon Korošec, who is leaving after 25 years with the company to become state secretary at Slovenia’s Ministry of the Economy, Labor and Sport. Founded in 1945 in the Slovenian Alps, Elan says it produces its skis at a single, fully integrated factory that runs on 100 percent renewable electricity, including power from its own solar installation.

The transition ends a tenure of nearly 25 years during which Korošec was closely involved in Elan’s international growth and its relationships with partners around the world. His move to a government post overseeing economic and sport policy comes as Elan positions its sports division for continued growth under new leadership.
