Bradford online retailer SportsShoes.com has promoted Ben Mounsey to Marketing Manager for trail and outdoor, citing consistent category revenue growth and a strategic push to deepen community engagement across fell, trail and mountain running.

SportsShoes.com has promoted Ben Mounsey to Marketing Manager for trail and outdoor, a newly defined role intended to drive category growth as off-road running and hiking continue to attract new participants across Europe.

Mounsey has been with the online retailer since 2019, holding positions across ambassador management, content and brand before the promotion. A former elite fell and mountain runner, he competed for Great Britain at the 2015 World Mountain Running Championships and won the UK Inter-Counties Fell Running Championship the same year. He also claimed silver at the 2019 World Masters Mountain Running Championships.

In his new role, Mounsey will oversee trail and outdoor marketing strategy, campaigns and activations. The appointment places an athlete-practitioner at the center of a category that SportsShoes.com says has delivered consistent revenue growth over the past 12 months.

SportsShoes.com’s community-led trail growth strategy

Trail running participation has expanded well beyond its traditional base of fell and mountain runners, drawing in road runners, hikers and outdoor newcomers. The company already runs more than 100 activation events annually. Recent trail and outdoor initiatives include Quid Games, an urban orienteering series developed with British Orienteering to reach non-traditional audiences, and the SportsShoes Pro Alpine Trail Team (P.A.T.T.), described as the world’s first digital retailer-backed all-women’s European trail running team.

Upcoming calendar anchors for the trail and outdoor division include the UTMB World Series Finals in Chamonix in August and the Kendal Mountain Festival in November – two events with significant reach among the core target audience.
