Lafone is an industry veteran and his appointment has immediate effect.

The Athlete’s Foot (TAF) has promoted Matt Lafone to Chief Executive Officer. Having joined the company in 2021, Lafone previously served as President and General Manager of the Americas.

Prior to TAF, Lafone served for about a year as Chief Operating, Merchandising and Marketing Officer at Payless ShoeSource. He served as Vice President Sales and Merchandising – Sportstyle at Puma from 2016 to 2020. Past roles also include Vice President of Global Sales and Global Retail at Spyder Active Sports, Senior Director of Global Licensing, Kid’s Footwear, Accessories & Jibbitz at Crocs, Head of Product Development, Design, QA and Global Sourcing at Sports Authority, and Senior Product Manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The Athlete’s Foot is a global retailer of athletic and lifestyle footwear, apparel and accessories. The first TAF store was inaugurated in 1971 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by founders Robert and David Lando. Today, the retailer is present in 12 countries. Its global headquarters is located in Stans, Switzerland. The company opened a new US headquarters in Atlanta in September.
