Gil Avérous was named France’s Minister of Sports, Youth, and Community Life in the new government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier in September. Now, France has yet another government and Minister of Sports. The new French Prime Minister, François Bayrou, who replaced Barnier, was unveiled in December after months of political deadlock, and Marie Barsacq was part of it as the new Minister of Sports.

Trained as a lawyer, Barsacq served as the Director of Impact and Legacy within the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 since the bidding phase. Previously, she worked for ten years at the French National Olympic Committee (CNOSF). She also worked at the French Football Federation (FFF), where she created a national institute to supervise professional training, before becoming the FFF Deputy General Manager in charge of amateur football.
