Phil Knight has told the American CNBC network that he plans to step down in June as chairman of Nike, the company that he co-founded will Bill Bowerman in 1964. The successful 77-year-old entrepreneur, who remains one of the richest men in the U.S., will keep a position on the board of directors. He announced his retirement while commenting on the release of his memoir, Shoe Dog. Knight's succession plans, which were unveiled in June last year, call for the group's president and chief executive, Mark Parker, to take his place as chairman.
