Police officers from the Spanish Civil Guard seized a few days ago €830,000 worth of apparel and gear in Barcelona bearing the logos of football clubs. Nike and the clubs, Celtic, Manchester United and Arsenal, had filed a complaint about counterfeit goods, so the officers raided four properties outside the city. Two people were arrested in the case. The biggest action against industrial piracy in Spain occurred in mid-June, involving seven containers seized in Barcelona and Valencia holding some 500,000 counterfeit items with a market value of about €20 million.
