Baldovino Mattiazzo, head designer for the Duca del Cosma brand of golf shoes, has been recognized with a Bronze award at the Global Footwear Awards (GFA). The GFAs, founded by Farmani Group, honor footwear designers at all levels, from emerging designers to businesses and corporations, for their achievements in terms of creativity, innovation, sustainability and social impact. The entry categories include Performance, Fashion, Kids, Sustainability, and Jury Awards. Duca del Cosma was the only golf shoe designer honored at the GFA. Mattiazzo won for his limited-edition King Cheetah sneaker-style design. The shoe design uses distinctive animal prints made with flexible neoprene as well as a combination of black lacquer leather and beige suede, to resemble the paw of the king cheetah. Every pair purchased supports the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre in South Africa. The limited-edition King Cheetah shoe was inspired by the rarest species of large cats to raise awareness of this threatened breed. The shoe comes with a leather-topped memory foam insole for optimal comfort, and the brand’s Airplay VII outsole for grip and stability. Mattiazzo, an Italian-born designer from Venice, was also a co-founder of Duca del Cosma in 2004, together with the German-born Antje Elle.
