Swix, a subsidiary of the Brav group, has introduced what it claims are the best-performing lines of non-fluorinated glide waxes, both solid and liquid, to the market. Swix Pro, as the overall line is called, is the fruit of a 10-year search for a non-fluorinated option that would keep drag to a minimum at various temperatures. The overall line breaks down into three sub-lines: Pro Performance Speed, Pro High Speed and Pro Top Speed, corresponding to the brand’s CH, LF and HF lines respectively. The ingredients have met the criteria of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and contain no per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Fluorinated waxes have been banned by the governing bodies of several competitive snow sports, notably in Europe and North America. The International Ski Federation (FIS) has banned them for the 2020/21 season, and on June 15 the national governing bodies in the U.S. and Canada established a policy work group to extend the ban to all sanctioned levels of snow sports competition in North America as from the 2020/21 season. In addition to Swix, Brav owns the Ulvang, Hard Rocx, Lundhags, Toko, Helsport, Skisporet and Original Teamwear brands.
