With the help of Infosys, the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) has instituted a metaverse. Visitors can peruse holographic statues of the greats (Navratilova, Laver, King, Ashe, Vergeer et al.), virtual artifacts (a racquet of Stefanie Graf’s from her Golden Slam of 1988, a dress of Serena Williams’s from the U.S. Open of 2018, etc.) and statistics. A trivia game offers points redeemable at the ITHF virtual shop, while a Carbon Tracker records and offsets visitor carbon footprints, and a Match Centre provides “AI-powered insights” and “new ways of following” tennis matches. Visitors can also snap photos for their avatars, engage in chats, watch videos or virtually play a match at the Horseshoe Court. The physical Hall of Fame is located in Newport, Rhode Island (USA).
