Tennis is apparently becoming increasingly popular in South Korea. This is reported by Korea Jong daily. The market in Korea reached approximately 250 billion won (€190 million) last year, with around 500,000 people playing.
According to research by Korea Jong daily, online stores, tennis apparel brands, brick-and-mortar retailers and tennis equipment brands all reported significant year-on-year growth in sales. Many items sold out quickly, Korea Jong Daily reported. The popularity of tennis in Korea is also interesting for fashion brands: French clothing brand Athe Vanessabruno, for example, launched a tennis capsule line in Korea that sold out in no time.
There was a high level of interest in tennis from young people in particular. A hashtag for tennis beginners spread over 270,000 times on social media. Another indicator of growing relevance: Just a few days ago, the Korean company F&F had acquired the Italian tennis clothing brand Sergio Tacchini.
