Profile Outdoors estimates that the British outdoor market rose by 3.1 percent to £1,340 million (€1.79bn-$2.66bn) in 2007, and predicts that the sector will continue to grow at an annual rate of 3-3.5 percent. Travel apparel may have peaked, but overall sales of clothing have increased, according to the British consultancy’s latest report, driven by lifestyle apparel. Footwear sales have been flat, while equipment has been the winner. The three biggest supplier were Regatta, the Ballin Group (Mountain Equipment, Ron Hill, Sprayway, Bridgedale and Burton McCall) and Berghaus, followed by Trespass, Hi-Tec and The North Face.
