Puma has announced a longterm endorsement deal for its football boots with Mario Balotelli, an iconic Italian striker who moved from the Manchester City team to the Italian AC Milan club last January. He was previously wearing Nike boots. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Puma won a contest for the deal against both Nike and Adidas by signing a contract worth around €5 million for ten years. Balotelli began to wear a special model of Puma boots featuring the front pages of newspapers. The deal consolidates Puma's investment in Italian football, as the brand is already the sponsor of the Italian football team.
