Puma has announced a sneaker collaboration with Tetris, the videogame brand and franchise, around Puma's latest Running System (RS) silhouette. The Puma x Tetris RS iteration will be launched worldwide in October. Further details on the product are expected to follow. Both the RS and Tetris were originally launched in the 1980s. The RS sneaker was launched in 1986 as a running sneaker featuring the Running System technology, designed to allow optimal cushioning and midsole support. Tetris was designed and programmed by Alexey Pajitnov, a Russian game designer, in 1984, and was introduced on Nintendo's gaming systems in 1989. Last year, Puma partnered with Sega, another classic brand of video games, on the launch of the Puma x Sega RS-0 sneaker, a reboot of the original Running System line, inspired by the Sega's character Sonic the Hedgehog, and featuring Sonic's combination of blue, red, green and yellow enveloping the shoe.
