Puma has finalized a contract to be the official supplier of the jerseys for the AC Milan team for five years, starting with the 2018/19 season, replacing Adidas ahead of schedule after a partnership of 20 years. Reportedly, the Leaping Cat will be paying an annual sponsorship fee of €12 million, way below the €16 million fee that the Big a is currently dishing out for the club. AC Milan is said to have been underfinanced following its takeover last year by a Chinese businessman, Yonghong Li, who reportedly paid €520 million for the club, assuming its debt. For Puma, the new contract can be regarded as a consolation prize for the defeat of the Italian national football team, which it sponsors, in the qualification rounds for next year's World Cup.
