Puma has had its new racing boat, Il Mostro (Italian for "the monster"), christened by the actress Salma Hayek in the harbor of Boston, in advance of the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-09. The Puma Ocean Racing Team started in May 2007 and its new boat, shaped like a "flying shoe," will participate in a few shorter races before the around-the-world Volvo competition starts in October. The company is launching a full line of sailing performance and lifestyle apparel, shoes and accessories to go with this expensive marketing exercise, which reminds one of Prada’s Luna Rossa program.
