Puma has signed a long-term endorsement contract with the 20 year-old Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse, who came third in the 100 meters at the World Championships in Beijing in August. De Grasse is the reigning 100 and 200 meter champion at the U.S. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He is to feature in Puma running campaigns across all regions in the lead-up to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and beyond. He should come into sharper focus after the Games, particularly if Usain Bolt decides to retire – as he indicated he might do after the Rio Olympics or a year later, after the world championships in London in 2017. De Grasse is to forego his senior year of NCAA eligibility at the University of Southern California (USC) but still work with USC head coach Caryl Smith-Gilbert while he completes his degree. As part of its latest investments, Puma also teamed up with the Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell and the U.S. runner Jenna Prandini.
