Puma has announced its investment in a research study to explore further ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries in women’s football. The brand said that one of the practical outcomes of this study is to further develop the women-specific football boots that Puma first launched two years ago. Female players are known to be two to ten times more likely to suffer an ACL injury than their male counterparts, Puma reminded in its statement. This research aims to investigate the dynamics that lead to these injuries and develop effective training programs to reduce the risk for female athletes.
