Puma will replace Li Ning as the technical sponsor of the Spanish Espanyol team from the next season on. Puma is also the new sponsor of an important Brazilian football team, Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas from Rio de Janeiro. It was previously sponsored by Kappa and by Fila through their Brazilian licensee, Grupo Dass. The German sports and lifestyle brand will develop all official performance gear for the Alvinegro1 team as well as the youth teams. It will provide replica kits as well as lifestyle apparel. The multi-year Botafogo deal is another move by Puma to strengthen its visibility in major football stadiums in Latin America. It already sponsors the clubs UNAM of Mexico, Independiente of Argentina, Universidad Católica of Chile and Peñarol of Uruguay.
