Quiksilver has appointed Alan Vickers to the new position of international sales director, responsible for the wholesale operations of all the brands of the group and for all the regions of the world except for the Americas. He will be in charge of all the countries where Quiksilver has an office and for relations with distributors and joint venture partners. Vickers, whom many remember as the former chief executive of the former Olympus sporting goods chain in the U.K., worked subsequently in leading roles for many important sports companies. The British native ran Nike's French operations and Reebok's European operations, for example, and he met Quiksilver's current Scottish-born chief executive, Andy Moonie, while he was at Nike. He was in charge of international sales for Umbro for a while. Most recently, he took care of international sales for Nautilus and then for Avia and other brands taken over by Brown Shoe Co. from American Sporting Goods.
