Recco has announced that 11 additional brands will be integrating its rescue reflectors in their products starting next winter. The list includes Boeri (helmets), Cortez (ski clothes), Kanuk (winter jackets), Grivel (climbing helmets), Manby (helmets), Templa (ski clothes), Scarpa (Ski mountaineering boot), as well as four returning brands with a previous history of using the Recco rescue system, which include Atomic (helmets), Avalanche Ski Wear (ski clothes), O'Neill (ski clothes) and Pelle P (ski clothes). The Recco reflectors enable professional rescuers to locate and rescue victims buried by avalanches using a Recco detector. The Recco system comprises two parts: a rescue reflector, integrated into sports equipment, and a Recco detector, which is used by rescuers to locate the person wearing the reflector. The reflector does not need a battery and is therefore always “on.”  The Recco Advanced Rescue Technology is currently integrated in products from around 200 brands. Recco and Scarpa will jointly present for the first time the new Scarpa F1 ski mountaineering boot, featuring the Recco system, at Ispo Munich on Jan. 28-31. Scarpa said the new version of the F1 will be the first boot designed for ski mountaineering to integrate the Recco rescue system. The two companies will be available at Ispo for live demonstrations of how the technology works at Hall A3, booth 214.
