Record Of Exhibitors And Improved Infrastructure At Outdoor Show

Messe Friedrichshafen, the organizer of the OutDoor show due to be held from July 15 through 18, reports a record attendance of 860 exhibitors, which corresponds to an increase of 6 percent from a year ago. They come from 39 countries and represent more than 1,000 brands.

The trade visitor can expect a new layout of the show: The big international players are being shifted to the halls A7 and B5, swapping with the tent city, which moves into A1, now known as Rothaus hall. The change is set to increase the attractiveness of the eastern entrance after the new Foyer East was inaugurated for last year’s edition.

The organizers have managed to improve the infrastructure even more, after it having been so heavily criticized in earlier years. Last December, a new road to the north of the venue was inaugurated, making the access to the show from the northern towns with their hotels such as Tettnang or Ravensburg more comfortable. Before the opening of this year’s OutDoor, a four-lane road will be ready to connect the fairground with Friedrichshafen.

OutDoor has also improved its services to the visitors: By mid-June, an OutDoor app will be available to be downloaded free of charge from the show’s website. Messe Friedrichshafen has enlarged its offer of conferences to be held at 8:30 a.m. right before the official opening of the show. All presentations will be held at the eastern conference center and they will be either in English or interpreted simultaneously. These conferences are stuffed with interesting topics such as social media relations, the Bluesign standard and other eco-friendly initiatives such as the new Eco Index launched by the European Outdoor Group. IDEAS, the international network of designers, will discuss the trends that point beyond the summer 2011 season.
