Representatives from the sports clusters of Montebelluna in Italy and Portland in the U.S. gathered for a round-table discussion at Montebelluna's city hall on Oct. 18. Organized by Associazione Calzaturieri Museo dello Scarpone and IPA, a body gathering together local municipalities and professional associations, with the contribution of Assosport, the meeting was an opportunity to exchange views and launch new initiatives. The tight cooperation between the private and public sectors in the Portland district emerged as a model for inspiration to the Italian homologues, while Americans showed a particular interest in the Italians' craftsmanship tradition. The organizers of the meeting envisage the implementation of a collaboration platform, especially at the training level for students and professors, who could travel from one district to the other to exchange knowledge and experiences.
