The leading German football retailer, 11teamsports, has become a long-term cooperation partner of the five-country retail group around Intersport Germany. It is combining its strong online presence and the operations of its 30-plus physical stores in the DACH region with the buying and marketing power of Intersport. There will be cooperation in purchasing, logistics and other operations.
By linking the two companies, Intersport wants to strengthen its expertise in the area of football and other team sports. The partnership will also bring a strong digital component to the table and make up for the termination some time ago of a contract with Karstadt Sports, a chain that is currently being reorganized.
For 11teamsports, which already claims to be the European leader in its sector, there will be opportunities for networking with the 1,500-plus physical stores affiliated with Intersport in Germany and, in addition, support for expansion into other markets covered by Intersport.
Founded in 2007, 11teamsports boasts a customer base of over 2.5 million people in the football sector. The company has more than 4,000 equipment contracts with amateur clubs and numerous other contracts in the professional football sector. It is an official licensing partner of the German Football Association (DFB) for the embroidery of players’ names and numbers, a service that can be offered to the retail members of Intersport.
