Decathlon will open a 2,000-sqm flagship at the 118 Mall in Kuala Lumpur in August 2026, its 37th Malaysia location a decade after its first store opened in May 2016. The Merdeka 118 Precinct outlet will incorporate Malaysian-inspired design, personalized services, and omnichannel capabilities.

Sports retailer Decathlon is preparing to open a 2,000-sqm. flagship store at the upcoming 118 Mall in Kuala Lumpur. Decathlon’s Asia Pacific representatives recently visited the site and planned store space ahead of the mall’s inauguration, scheduled for August 2026. The 118 Mall is located within the historic Merdeka 118 Precinct.

The new Decathlon store on level 2 of the mall will combine sport, lifestyle and local identity. The store design will feature modernized Malaysian-inspired elements, including motifs inspired by traditional songket patterns. Visitors will have access to personalized services like custom printing and engraving, as well as racket stringing services. The store will also offer the retailer’s omnichannel capabilities, allowing customers to access a greater variety of products and services beyond what is available in-store.

PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), was incorporated in 2000 to develop the Merdeka 118 Precinct. The 118 Mall, located at the lobby of the Merdeka 118 Tower, is flanked by Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara. The 118 Mall features more than 74,000 square meters of space available for lease and a stunning 88-meter glass dome on level 4 that lets in natural light during the day.

Decathlon has recently celebrated its 10-year milestone in Malaysia. The sporting goods chain opened its first store in the Asian country on May 26, 2016. Today, the global sporting goods retailer has 36 stores nationwide.
