Since April 20, German employers are obliged to offer regular Covid-19 tests to staff members who are not working remotely from their homes. To enable its affiliated shoe and sports retailers to meet this obligation, the German-based GMS buying group is supplying its members with inexpensive rapid tests. To date, GMS has shipped more than 30,000 rapid tests to be used in around 1,800 stores operated by many of its 1,200 affiliated retailers in Germany, Austria, Benelux and France. The group is selling the kits for such do-it-yourself tests at a low price of €3.99, without making any profits. In addition, the group provides affiliated retailers with support in applying for government aid if their stores are forced to stay closed.
