JD Sports Fashion is now deploying Fluent Commerce’s order-management platform throughout US retailer Hibbett’s operations. Fluent’s platform will power “buy online, pick up in store” (BOPIS), ship-from-store and drop-ship fulfilment options.
Acquired by JD Sports in July 2024, Hibbett operates roughly 1,000 stores in 36 US states, primarily selling footwear, athleisure apparel and accessories from brands like Nike, Jordan, and Adidas.
Real-time inventory and smart fulfilment unlock omnichannel scale
The integration of Fluent’s Global Inventory and Big Inventory modules will give Hibbett real-time visibility into stock throughout its network. Order orchestration logic will help Hibbett route orders intelligently – either from its physical stores or via drop-shipping – to reduce fulfilment costs and improve delivery speed. Fluent’s agility will help JD scale Hibbett’s digital offering while improving order accuracy and customer experience.
Strategic context
This implementation aligns with JD’s “Complementary Concepts” growth strategy in North America. In its FY25 results, JD said Hibbett would serve to support its mall-led expansion into underserved US regions.
The Fluent Commerce deployment follows JD’s broader push to modernize its supply chain and e-commerce infrastructure. In its Q4 2024 reports, JD emphasized investment in cloud-native systems and data infrastructure to support global growth.
By upgrading Hibbett’s fulfilment tech, JD use inventory as a competitive lever, especially during high-demand events like limited sneaker drops. Fluent’s real-time, scalable solution is designed to support that volume.
