JD Sports has decided to shut down its warehouse on Derby Commercial Park, East Midlands, BBC News has reported. The closure will result in the loss of nearly 200 jobs. The retailer signed a 20-year lease on the 47,700sqm. facility just three years ago.
Recently SGI Europe wrote about JD Sports, which runs 4,500 stores worldwide, and their Q2 report.
According to the report, the decision follows a strategic review of JD Group’s global supply chain network. The company is exploring the possibility of alternative roles within the business for affected staff.
