Rob Barker has been promoted to the position of president of Amer Sports' Fitness business, with effect from June 1. As a member of the group's executive board, he will directly report to the president and chief executive, Heikki Takala. Barker will take the place of Paul Byrne, who will retire on Sept. 1 after running the division since 2002. The new president of the Fitness unit, which consists mainly of Precor, has been running its international sales and its operations since 2011, after occupying various sales positions in the segment for more than 17 years. In announcing his appointment, Amer noted that Precor's sales rose by 18 percent to €273 million in the past year.
