Rottefella launched its first collection of ski and running apparel for men and women, called “Thermal Bodymapping,” at the Ispo Munich fair. It is a completely new product category for the Norwegian brand of cross-country ski bindings.

The collection, which comprises baselayers, midlayers and outer layers, is made by Spectre, a Danish production company, in cooperation with Polartec for the first, second and third layers and with Schöller for the face fabrics. The baselayers are made with Polartec powerwool, a brand-new technology from Polartec, and the midlayers with Polartec Alpha material. The outer layers for the jackets and pants are made with Polartec's Neoshell material.

Rottefella will also have an apparel line for the spring/summer 2018 season. The collection is being launched first in Norway and Sweden. Germany will be next.

At Ispo, Rottefella also presented a new set of ski bindings that can be adjusted manually while standing on the skis. The new set is especially suited for skin skis, which need bindings that can be adjusted. An electrical version of these bindings, with a detachable battery and remote control in the ski poles, is due to be launched for the winter 2018/19 season. Launched for the 2017/18 season, the manual version will cost about €40-50 more than the classic Rottefella bindings, which cost about €100 for end consumers.

Rottefella does not want to comment yet on its sales figures for the 2016/17 winter season, but company officials stated that it recorded good growth in Scandinavia and Russia, accompanied by a decline in the U.S. at the end of the season. Sales in Germany and Central Europe were stable.
