Scott Mellin has been named global chief brand officer by Salomon, a new role at the company following the departure of Salomon’s VP of brand, Eric Pansier, last year. Mellin will lead the company’s global marketing organization from its headquarters in Annecy in the French Alps.
Mellin has a long career in the snow, sports and outdoor industries as an executive and consultant, including stints at Oakley, Callaway, Head, Scott, Aspen Snowmass, Black Diamond, Audi and Lamborghini. Most recently, he served as global GM of mountain sports at The North Face, where he led efforts to reinvigorate brand authenticity while developing and introducing new fabric technologies. He also pioneered the re-launch of the brand’s footwear category. He led the company’s sustainability program, increasing the overall percentage of recycled products from 7 percent to more than 70 percent in four years. Mellin will relocate from the U.S. to Annecy, France, in the coming months.
“Scott, with his brand vision, is a powerful addition to our executive team,” said Franco Fogliato, president and CEO of Salomon. “His conceptual expertise will fuel our marketing, product, retail and overall consumer experiences. Salomon is entering an exciting period in its long and storied history, with opportunities to share our brand and products with new communities of outdoor lovers, and I’m confident that Scott is the person to lead our marketing organization in the next phase of this journey.”
