Samson Wong has been appointed president of the new 60/40 joint venture for the Chinese market between Columbia Sportswear and Swire Resources, effective next Jan. 1. The 54-year old spent 23 years with Swire. He has been involved with Columbia since 2002, running Swire's operations as a distributor of the company in Hong Kong and then, as of 2004, in China as well. Through Swire, Columbia generated revenues of more than $150 million in Mainland China for its various brands, with distribution in some 70 mono-brand stores and more than 680 other locations.
