The latest sports team to expand into a metaverse is São Paulo FC. According to the metaverse’s custodians, Crypto Blockchain Industries (CBI), the “audiovisual content” will cover the professional men’s team, the women’s team, youth teams and club news. Fans will be able to talk to one another and gain access to virtual objects (NFTs), mini-games and “physical benefits” – that is, objects in the real world, such as tickets and autographed jerseys. The club’s home stadium, Cícero Pompeu de Toledo (also known as Morumbi Stadium), will have a three-dimensional virtual reproduction. The purchase of virtual seats in this e-stadium will open the way to some of the aforementioned physical benefits.
São Paulo FC’s metaverse, contained within “Football at AlphaVerse,” is scheduled to open early in the 2023/24 season.
The AlphaVerse is a collection of connected metaverses. In them, visitors can buy or rent virtual land, virtual buildings, virtual flats, advertising space on billboards, and so forth. They can also play games, watch movies, attend concerts, host events of their own, etc.
CBI is a public company headquartered in France. Its shares are traded on the Euronext Growth market.
