Scantrade, one of Norway’s biggest sporting goods distributors, wants to scale up its operations on the Scandinavian level, and is taking over distribution for Nordica and Rollerblade in Sweden from Seger United. Scantrade distributes both of these brands in Norway after acquiring Ramo, a Norwegian distributor, last year. It will set up a warehouse in Sweden and wants to build up its portfolio of brands in the country. Scantrade distributes Umbro and Mizuno in Norway, and recently took over Umbro operations in Denmark and Iceland. Last year it added Scott and Suunto, along with Nordica and Rollerblade, to its Norwegian portfolio – thanks to the Ramo acquisition. It generated annual turnover of 530 million Norwegian kronor (€61.4m-$76.7m) in 2007, and up to 65 percent of that was represented by Umbro. Scantrade will keep on staff from Seger United to distribute Nordica and Rollerblade in Sweden, with Peter Engström as manager, and Marcus Lygnersjö and Peter Ingrids as sales representatives. Combisport in Motala will take care of the logistics side of the business.
