SportScheck, Germany’s largest specialty sports retail chain, had sales of €306.1 million in its fiscal year ended Feb. 28, or 3.3 percent more than in the previous year. About 50 percent of the sales came from its 14 brick-and-mortar stores while the other half was done through mail-order. Out of the mail-order portion, 70 percent was generated through online sales.

Scheck has proven to be particularly strong in the outdoor business: 23 percent of its total sales were outdoor-related in the last financial year. Apparel is still by far the largest segment in Scheck’s outdoor range with a share of some 67 percent. Sales of textiles were up by 5.9 percent.

Footwear increased by 8 percent and represented 18 percent of the chain’s outdoor offer. Equipment was the smallest segment, with a share of 15 percent, but with an increase of 22 percent, it had the fastest growth.
