Shimano has announced that it will start its own office for bikes in Italy as of July 1. The move will put to an end its collaboration with M.I.C. and Amedeo Colombo for the sales of bike parts in Italy, which had lasted since 1979. Shimano Europe has a long lasting joint venture company with M.I.C. for the distribution of fishing tackle gear in the Italian market that will not be affected by this new initiative. Shimano Italy Bicycle Components, which is aiming for an organization with around 25 employees, will be located in the Milan area. The new office will handle Shimano's sales, marketing and service activities in Italy for their bike-related products. The structure and activities will be the same as for the already existing Shimano sales offices in other countries such as Shimano Benelux, Shimano Scandic, Shimano Poland , Shimano France and Shimano Turkey.
